I've read of several people that started putting collars on their roo before he crowed. Loose at first just to get him used to wearing one. Then slowly tightening to the proper spot. From what I understand, they still had the initial response to back away from it or shake it off but it didn't...- Sustained

They certainly reduce volume. My head roo only took maybe 2 minutes to adjust to wearing one. He did give me a dirty look that I'm fairly sure was meant to convey a few 4-letter words but then went about his business. He has never acted as though it hurt in any way.
