    I appreciate the help! It's a disappoinment, but that's life. I guess we're going to need t come up with another name for him then since the kids have been calling him Queeny. We assumed he was the top chick so I told the kids he was the queen to explain why he was in charge and Queeny stuck :-)

    I know hens grow combs at different rates, so is it that it grew so fast thst makes him a rooster or is there another feature you see? I guess I'm just hoping he's not a rooster as that's what I ordered. I have to get a special permit to have roosters and even then my neighbor will lose his mind...

    Ok thank you. I'm not sure what to do now. Are there any advantages of having a rooster? I think I've read that they are protective of their flock.

    I'm very inexperienced, but from what I've read from other posts a rooster should be more silver than this one, so I wasn't concerned until recently because her comb is getting bigger while none ofthe other 5 are at all.

    I ordered 6 barred rock female chicks that I've been raising since 1 day old. I noticed one started growing the comb and waddle (i think that's the name for under the neck thing) and that the others defer to her. Now they are almost 7 weeks old and the other combs are only tiny and still orange...
