My Pit is great with our girls! He kept stray dogs out of yard that were trying to get to the chickens and didn't mind them at all! They would try to sneak his dog food and he didn't even try to get them then lol
Any reason you're wanting clear? Just from my experience the clear will allow algae to grow.
I actually haven't used it through the winter yet. I'm going to add a birdbath heater to it which will hopefully keep it from freezing.. But even if I have to replace it I will continue to use it...
No hose or anything. Just the PVC pipe with a 'elbow' attached to the bucket. He did put something on the outside of the bucket around the PVC pipe to seal it so it wouldn't leak. He just put a cap on the other end of the pipe. Hope it works for you, let me know :) Here is the link I got the...

Sure I will take a pic after work for you! It wasn't much work at all to set up and it is wonderful!! The bucket is on the outside of my fence so we can fill it from the outside and I painted the bucket black to cut down on algae growing. Would have just bought a black bucket had I realized...
I had a PVC pipe with chicken nipples connected to a 5 gal bucket. Love love it! Keeps water fresh and clean! I also put big hunks of ice in the bucket in the mornings once its hot outside hoping to keep the water cool for them :)
we just got them in april tho.. I've all ready told the DH I want to get some more next spring
The ones we have now are all white, I want some different kinds so we can tell them apart easier LOL
we also bought them home and had nothing but a tote to put them in! so we're learing as we go haha
