Just got my order of Natures Garden:
citronella lime
Japanese cherry blossom
cucumber melon
apple jack peel
What experances do ya'll have with their FOs? Ordering from them was a breeze and it arrive a day early with a wood rose sceneted in almond for a sniffy
Well as far as allergies to most soaps are you refurring to "soaps" from the store? Bars of soap and body wash from the store are acutally deturgants. That being said my SIL is very sensitive to the store bought "soaps" and has no problems with CP soaps. I do use goat milk but have made some...
Has anyone ever used Beet juice in their soap before? I was cooking some up the other day and though that it might make a nice natural colorant. Wasn't sure if it would still stain soaped like it does in it's raw form. Just a thought
I get my milk from a co-worker. She has an alpine cross that she gets about 1 gallon from a day. Her family only drinks goats milk and I buy the extra. I pay her $6 per 1/2 gallon, which is pretty steep but I help her out and only need about that much every other week or so for both drinking and...
I've never had problems with walmart OO, has always worked just fine for me when I've made purely OO soap. It just didn't end up being my favorite... I have a combo of lard and castor with milk I just LOVE!
Fellow soapers! I think I'm just about ready to begin selling my soap, lotion bars and...
I had to get palm oil off the internet but i didn't really care for it. In fact my favorite combo is mostly lard with some castor oil. Lathers wonderfully and the castor makes it feel moisturizing.
My bigest hit though has been my Colorado therepy chapstick and lotion bars. It's so darn dry...

I've used loofa in some of my soaps. I line a pvc pipe with freezer paper for the mold. I used several layers of heavy plastic wrap for one end and used many rubberbands to hold the plastic on the end of the pvc pipe. In serted the loofa in the pipe. A 12 inch length will allow...
Ok thanks!
My lilac is all gone already (I just make mine for gifts at this point anyway) and had so many birthdays this month. So I'll make more lilac and try that in the pot swirl. Thank you Morgaine.
Well I tried Brambleberry's "sensious sandlewood" and I think its a good "manly" smell... but go figure DH prefures using my plain jane, no scent at all.
I tried swirling... to no avail.
When I tried I made 1 batch plain soap and seperated the batch into two bowls. Then I added my color to one...
The sandalwood is nice. I can't wait to soap with it, I got it in hopes of having a more manly soap... this will do it nicely.
I did make that same recipe I posted earlier with lemon cake instead of the nutmeg clove. I used BB's yellow pigment and it came out looking like the inside of a 3...
we'll se how this one goes.
1 oz Castor
3 oz coconut
4 oz palm
8 oz olive
2.18 lye
5 oz frozen milk (straight from the ice cube tray)
at trace I added 1 oz cinimon nutmeg FO then devided into two seperate bowls and mixed red color into one. Then tried to swirl them in the bowl... not as much...
I hope so... that's how I've been doing it. Weight not volume. Has to do with the saponification (sp?) and lye balance. You never want to be lye heavy, causing burns or other problems.
Weight to be safe.
Guess I really have to get some pics on here. That last recipe (see above) didn't turn out very well... the top of each soap (exposed to the air) turned this kinda stickyish/chalkyish white!!! I can cut it off but for the future does anyone know what I did wrong?
By the way the bee bars I made...

I soaped this one today, it's the 5th batch I've ever made so I'm still a beginner and it's a very easy one. I even added 1.2 oz FO, tropical fruits, and mixed in some cucumber soap shavings for green confetti color in it and no problems!
I'll take some pictures once they're out of...
ChookHappy- Congrats on working on that bucket list there are some VERY helpful folks here, but being on BYC that's not a shocker
Well can you imagine, DH got me molds and a grater (for bees wax) for Christmas! He gave me such a hard time over my new found fun in soapmaking and now he's...
So I made some lotion bars the other day:
1 part bees wax
1 part cocoa butter
1 part coconut oil
and it melts so much faster than I really like, would using shea butter make it firmer? I wasn't such a fan of the cocoa butter, makes me hungry using it... smells like chocolate.
