Thanks, all! I've been classically conditioned from all of the hatch a longs I've participated in! Haha. Good to know! Now I'm not as mad about my last egg not pipping yet! I would have been 7/7! Haha
Someone asked about hatch rate. I believe It is a calculation of the total eggs hatched divided by the total eggs set.
The best hatch rate in this contest will be just that (that is why we have to disclose how many we sett followed by how many hatched).
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
We're starting to unzip! All of you stick at work like me, feel free to watch until you get home to your own chicks! Hopefully this can hold you over!

I have the Brinsea mini. I just fill it full before lockdown, and don't refill at all I have never had problems. I think the incubator is so small, it humidifies and holds the humidity very well and quickly.
ETA: What @la Casa de pollo said!
Is this your first hatch with this incubator? I am at 4,500 ft and have had zero problems with humidity. I literally set it and forget it. I follow instructions and fill both holes before lockdown. I don't even measure humidity, and so far I have had a very very very high hatch rate of eggs that...
I'm so bummed! All seven of my eggs were doing so great! But... The power went out three hours ago. When I got home from work, the eggs were feeling sort of cold. I filled some ziplock bags with warm water, and set them on top. Hopefully the eggs will make it!
Just did my last candling! I am still going strong at 7/7. Though the quantity is not as impressive as others, I am still happy about the rate so far! And I can't believe how fast this hatch has gone by!
Man! Busy busy busy! I can't imagine how quick this will go in a few weeks!
Question! How long can a broody hen sit on an egg before it is inedible?
I have a broody hen who jumps on any egg in the nest boxes. I can't collect until around 7 when I'm off of work. Are these eggs still ok to...
Love the Brinsea! I don't think I've ever had an egg that has made it to seven days not hatch. I probably get 5 to hatch per set. I think the quitters are related to nature versus the incubator.
I used a homemade incubator for my first hatch as well. I probably set 24, and only seven made it. About 8 were shrink wrapped in their shells. I assume it is because of a low humidity during lockdown.
On this day, the fourteenth of March, I, Ace, have set SEVEN barnyard Easter Egger mixes (1/2 Wheaten Ameraucana, 1/4 Barred Rock, and 1/4 EE). Let the partay begin!
I like this setup! Do you just hand turn? What is your technique? I also have a mini and wild love to put some more eggs in. I am very busy at work and just don't have a lot of time to hand turn.
I vote FICTION. With my hens, egg shape depends on breed and particular hen. I didn't read the article, but I have seen no correlation between shape and sex.
