Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

These arent real good pictures, and plz excuse the messy covers ( tomorrow is cleaning day), but here are the two I made. One is a rectangular sloped from 3 inches up to 6 inches. The other is a sloped dome shape, lower than the first front and back. I made them out of cattle panel fence that...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Yup, checked that. I was actually taking the heating pad off the crappy frame I had and moving it to the dome cave I made for the outside brooder (it wouldn't fit in the dog crate cause of how long the legs were to keep it in the tilted dome shape), so there is no way I could miss a chick while...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

look in the feed bags too Yep, looked between the feed bags. They arent whole, cut longwise and zip tied on. My husband was here all day that day, so he would have heard a distressed chick. I counted again tonight, the right number of BO and one EE missing. Now I'm starting to wonder if I...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

So, I feel like the worst chicken mommy ever. I hatched 41 last weekend. At just a couple days old, I realized they were just too many for the dog crate brooder I had them in and too stinky for the house. I took them and their MHP outside last night to join the 4 week old chicks out in the coop...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Did you know you have the heating pad upside down? I think the side with the words is the warmer side. I put it facing towards the floor. I have the same heating pad, BTW.

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

I know, aart, but my MHP currently has ducks under it! Project for the day, moving duckies out to be with 4 week old chicks out in coop brooder! I have a member page with my incubator explained. But it's been giving us problems lately, so DH is going to make me a new one out of a reach in cooler...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Bought two ducks at the farm store today. Firsttime duck owner. Can't get them interested in the MHP. Dont think they are more than a few days old and I have it turned all the way down to 2 (out of 6) and they still keep coming out and sleeping by the food and water. And its dark in the room...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

It's been awhile since I have been on this thread. It's so awesome that it is always here when I have questions! Blooie, want you to know that I FINALLY made my MHP out of cattle panel and HC over it. Definitely the way to go! Sturdy as all get out! Made a rectangular lean-to type for some 4...

Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Thanks for all the replies! I assumed that them being the youngest, they wouldn't mind being on the lowest roost, but I'm wondering if most "lowest" roosts are left empty in most coops?!! LOL Wouldn't want any of them to have to admit to being the lowest chicken! Yes, I make sure the roosts...
