What setting is your mhp on? Given their reaction it may be an indication you can turn it down a notch....by two weeks mine is on low for my chicks out in the coop
Lol, you are talking to a deep bedding in the coop, deep litter in the run, 50 pound no waste feeder, poultry cups on a bucket that lasts well over a week (close to three when I dont have all the extra birds)user here.....I live for simple, least effort possible methods.... that's not...
Kitchen towels are perfect for mhp/cookie rack set ups, I cut a small hole for each of the four legs (threaded rod, washer and nut top &bottom for easy adjustment) and that holds it securely on place
Just asking because I want to satisfy my own curiosity. Has anyone here in this thread had an actual person that you know or report that you can verify, as opposed to the my next door neighbors mama's 2nd cousin 3 times removed knew a guy, experience ANY fire related incidents resulting from...
It really does feel like a huge leap of faith, especially when so many people will tell you just how fragile chicks and even chickens are, when it comes to things like winter. That being said, that belief in fragility is really a whole load of hooey. Having allowed broody hens to hatch and raise...
Lol....I spent last night assembling my heat pad setups....ran a solid 24 hour test to be sure pads came out of the storage tote in working order. Good timing, my confirmation for first shipment of the year came this afternoon :wee
Chicken math is genetic...... DD went to the store today to see about picking up "a couple of polish" for my sister. She came home with THREE polish (couldn't leave the last one all alone, could she?) *and* two orloffs..... "you said the other day you wanted some someday"......wonder how long...
So proud of my sweet husband. The store he is working in has started carrying chicks this year and he has ended up being responsible for an awful lot of the question and answer, sales, and chick care when the "chick person" is not there . My opinion of her abilities as the "chick person" shall...
I'm never without PND in my supply kit. Really comes in handy when you have a struggle that is only taking drops of liquid at a time as I'll give a couple drops undiluted.
Here we go again......the last babies integrated just in time, post office called bright and early this morning so I cranked up the ol MHP once again. None of these are mine(keep repeating that, lol), 10 go home Saturday and 6 will either go to my sister in 6-8 weeks or be sold (she's not sure...
Current inhabitants of the brooder section.....blrw are 2 1/2 weeks and ccl is probably 3 1/2-4(picked her up yesterday). Turned the heat down to low. Ccl doesn't really "need" it so much, but not want to integrate them as a group soon the brooder she stays. Probably start integration end of...
There is something wrong with this picture
Two happy, healthy chicks all settled in in the brooder section of the coop with their mhp......the problem, it's the wrong two chicks.
The two polish I was going to be raising for my sister came in..... one all but doa (lost her about 20 hours later...
