She's 4 1/2 months now.
Yeah I noticed the "new growth" mohawk feathers on her head the other day. I'm hoping you're right about her being a hen :fl .
:lau:celebrate
I hope so! She's a mess though, still wants to sit in my lap and snuggle!
I bought the red pepper but Jake has never eaten wet feed before, really only likes the pellets, so I didn't know how well she would eat it & how much to feed for just 1 bird at 4 months old.
No, I didn't send the 2 poults that died for necropsy, so I don't have 100% definitive diagnosis of it. The poults became sick soon after they were integrated into the chicken flock though, and the 2 died within 2 days of showing symptoms. I was fortunate the 3rd survived with very aggressive...
In February I lost 2 poults to Blackhead and nearly lost Jake, my lone survivor. She is no longer allowed to associate with our chickens, she can talk to them through the fences only. Plus I'm worming her every month & the chickens every 3 months now. So it's all still very fresh in my mind...
It's a 3 minimum on turkey but need total of 15 birds for shipping order, so I just ordered some pullets for the extra numbers. Jake was named at hatch so I think she is a hen now, and the name just stuck!
It's a variety of Heritage, so whatever is available at time of shipment, could all be different. Which is fine by me, I just want some company for my Jake~Jake. She's all alone in her area.
They are so incredible aren't they?
Mine come fly~running whenever they see me!
While I was working on a pen for quail today they were all helping. You know, by pulling on my jacket zipper, flying onto my back, pecking at my gloves.... etc.
I'm so glad that I decided to hatch them little...
