I don't know about twin duck eggs but I know twin chicken eggs rarely make it and the chicks can often be deformed. Again, don't know if duck twins are more common or more successful but if not, then I would not have the kids get their hopes up. That seller should be informed she's got some hens...
So sorry to hear that. My niece used to have seizures when she was younger. Speaking of jaw surgery, she had a seizure once while standing and fell and broke her jaw. Needed lots of surgeries. That was a stressful time. Luckily she outgrew them and they never found the root cause. I know what a...
Mine has been inside for 6 weeks now. I only feed her the duck crumbles and I swear she's got no bad smell. But we went digging for worms the day before yesterday (she absolutely loved it) but then yesterday she had some bad poops, I mean really bad. Not doing that again while she still lives in...
Interesting! I love new ideas! I think I was given a couple orchids that were floating in something similar. They were these round little balls, looked like marbles and they would start shrinking when you needed to add water. I'm going to look into this. My question is, do you add them to your...
Turk! :hugs
Which eggs are these...the calls?? They are day 26 hatchers if so. Also, my one egg that hatched is an egg that I thought quit! I mean I was 99% sure and actually stopped turning it but left it in because I was having temp drops whenever I would remove an egg. So if these are the...
I read about putting one from your own flock in with the quarantined ones. I forget what it's called. But you pick one from your flock, about half way through quarantine and put them in with them and then you can see if they develop anything that the new ones might not show symptoms for. Ever...
I am madly in love this with little call that hatched!! My first time for ducks. So I know you know how intriguing they are to watch. Don't lose hope on the detached. This duckling had a fully rolling air cell! You'll do fine!
Awesome!! I was so nervous with this hatch of calls. I have 6 more call eggs on day 9. I will be here for you if you need any help. Ravyn had to hold my hand the whole hatch!
That's great!! So cute. Can't wait for the silkies to hatch!
Hope you feel better. Allergies are bad here too. Had...
I'm a call duck mama!! I'm a call duck mama!! Pics when he's dry!!
Hmmm, sticky chicks that stop zipping...my first zipper on my last hatch did this. None of the others did. What incubator are you using? Is it possible the fan is to strong and drying them out as they are trying to zip? How...
Beautiful! Love to see more pics of them grown. The Wyandotte is gorgeous!
Good job!! He was ready to come out. You can tell by how clear the membrane is inside the egg. Hope the rest hatch easily for you!
I've noticed that the first to pip usually take the longest to zip. Also, I was going to say that when I'm struggling with humidity and need to open the incubator, I boil a pot of water in the kitchen. My incubator is right off the kitchen. That usually does the trick.
So so so cute!
That's awesome!!
Ok, good! I contacted a breeder here in NY too. They even offered me a trio of adults...I was so tempted! I would love to hatch them and if you do get eggs, I will be following your hatch closely!
So adorable! What breed is this?
You have to wait until all the veins are...
Are you hatching Mandarins??? I did not mean that they should not be hatched! I hope my post didn't come across that way! For me, with the kids I need a duck they can torture...I mean love on like crazy!! I'm so curious now to hear if you are hatching them!! That is a "someday" dream of mine...
That's scary! The last few days the mini with the call eggs went up to 100.5 and even that made me a little nervous but they are doing good so I haven't fiddled with it. I added water and it came down to around 100. I have a new batch of 18 shipped call eggs in the 20 and I had a half a dozen...
