    I got mine from Ideal also. I lost one hen and the cockerel. If I decide I want to run a breeding pen of them to continue this project, I'll go to the Holland thread and ask for hatching eggs to buy.

    Eliza, that does look like a barred Rock. that dark wash on the legs is what you want to see, it indicates a pullet. Do you have barred Hollands, too? I bought some specifically for making blue egg laying sex links, my first eggs are in the incubator and under a broody hen as I type!

    Since you're in NZ, I'm thinking they're Aussie Aracaunas, or a mix thereof. Quite possibly blue or green egg layers. Sorry, but nothing about those birds says Legbar.

    Is the bird in question black and white barred? I didn't think Ideal was doing Olive Egger but haven't been on their site for a while.
