Well, I am enchanted no matter what he is. I am new to the chicken thing. I fear when it is time to finish the circle of life on my new hobby farm, it will end up very hard to make a chicken dinner as we planned :( right now I will just wait for my eggs in the fall.
I looked up Delaware rooster on Google and retired many picks with speckles around entire neck. The body seems fatter, but this rooster is a younger one according to an earlier answer. Also my son found it on the woods. Could be malnourished and skinny for its age?
We got the original six and were told the yellows were yellow leghorns. The one I pictured was the only one with a single black feather on its back. I think she is getting more, but the others have no other coloring besides the white. The rest are my Rhode Island reds.
I live in an rural location, outside city limits. So I can keep him. Have not heard any crowing yet. However, I wrk nights and don't get home til 9am at times. If he is a very early crower. No one else in my property has noticed him crow yet. Thanks for your help!
Here is a pic of the 13 week old leghorn I am hemming and hawing on. No fights with the rooster at all. But the comb and other redness around face seems more than the other two leghorns. Thoughts?
