Both my SIL and I had a lot of catface tomatoes last year -- so lots of "chicken tomatoes".
I'm thinking that extra winter squash will be valuable fresh feed through the winter when, even in my mild climate, I don't have much fresh green stuff for them.
Melon guts have been the clear winner...
I ordered seed today and I ordered both Mammoth Russian sunflowers and some extra winter squash with the specific intent of growing them for the chickens.
I also intend to plant more collards, kale, mustard, and turnips than previously next fall for more winter green stuff.
