Wow! They're magnificent, especially the one trying to levitate! Kudos to you for working some magic and giving them some much needed love!
Maybe that last one is holding out until your other half is feeling better and you can have one more :D
Also that background is gorgeous
Nope, his previous owners ended up not wanting to sell any more of their horses :(
Poppy came from the kill pen in Stroud, Oklahoma, not his actual sister. Canelo needed another horse and Poppy didn't look like anyone else was gonna buy her
She was a bit bloaty the first day and a half or...
That is really reassuring!
The Zimectrin has now kicked in and she definitely did have some worms.
Full figured equines are the best! You could share pics if you were so inclined :D
Would you be able and willing to tell me more about her conformation issues? It's not a subject I know anything about.
Thank you! He perked up enough to trot yesterday when I let him out, but only for a couple of minutes because he realized there was food in his other pen
She is supposed to be just under a year old, she has a small hernia, crooked legs, some lovely nose/lip warts, a cough and runny nose, and a...
Much better! He's been gelded, cleared for very light riding and got a baby sister! I would have felt like too much of a jerk riding him but the farrier's daughter rode him around with a halter and lead rope and he did well except for being a little worried about being mounted bareback.
Baby...
This one might be special lol, we've never had one with 2 near disasters in 24 hours
Nope, he had a breakaway halter but he's only wearing it when we're out and about now
The night before his vet appointment this poor boy hung himself in a fence by the neck and one hoof and collapsed...it could easily have been the end of him had we not gone for an extra evening check.
Vet says he needs groceries and some wormer, then he got vaccines, some slight dental work, and...
He's home, has a vet appointment Monday, and is chowing down on some timothy hay in my friends QT pasture. Also he was the very best boy throughout the travel process, even unloading in the dark in a strange place with unfamiliar livestock without freaking out! Except for untying himself...
They live a few hours away so I won't be able to go back until at least next weekend anyway.
YorkshireCoop-it can't be fixed in 2 weeks, but do you think it was honestly caused in 2-3 weeks?
They were moving the horse to another location when I left yesterday, plus there's another horse on the property that I'm trying to persuade then to sell me. I'm not about to offend them. The mom and kids seemed like decent human beings and they planned to settle the matter of the horses...
If he does make it through the 2 week period what do you recommend feeding him and how much at a time? I got some alfalfa pellets and some higher fat/protein performance feed, as well as some probiotic chews. Not sure what type of hay to get or if he should have it free choice.
If it's just lack of food I can definitely fix that, but worried about founder and colic. But what if he's actually sick? Supposed to be about 3 1/2 years old
This is not a question of "should I buy" because I know I shouldn't but am going to anyway but more of a question of "is he going to improve in the next 2 weeks and what could possibly be wrong with him"
Saw a horse on CL, made an appointment to go look at him. In the CL ad he looks a little...
