Do hens practice the egg song before laying? Sometimes I think I'm hearing the egg song but it turns out a rabbit or other bird was scaring the chickens

No they are confined to the coop. (Besides the times when I let them out) I have 2 fake eggs and I put them In the nesting boxes.

Could be. I put a camera in the coop and now it will notify me when something is in, or passing in front of the nesting box. I did see one of my other hens stick her head in one.

The only thing is, she has shown no interest into the nesting boxes or finding a place to lay

I sure hope so! All my neighbors are wanting in on exclusive fresh eggs!
