I do agree with the never declawer guy. Back in the 1990's my girlfriend declawed her "psycho" kittie. He became a pure bucket of evil. He was a cute kitten before getting declawed.
My cat is not declawed. He has injured his claws over the years. I hope this clears up some of the discussion. It is his most common injury to have a claw bent out 90 degrees from normal.
He seems to still have claws. This cat has cost me a fortune over his lifetime having reason to remove them all one by one. Granted I love the cat and the possums he kills. Just my random musings.
