    Captain Cluck had success after a raccoon attack and infection set in (her duck) using Duramycin. She also used Ichthammol topically to draw infection out of the leg. Duramycin is oxytetracycline. If it were me, that's what I would go with. But that's just my feeling.

    I wish I could be sure - in a perfect world, you'd be able to test a sample from the duck and then test that against different antibiotics so that you could choose the one that knocks out the infection the best. If Pen G is what you have, perhaps that's best, rather than waiting too long...

    I would give the oral antibiotics, apply Epsom salt compresses (E.s. is a laxative, don't let him ingest any) and apply topical antibiotic or perhaps a couple of drops of clear iodine at the wound site. I agree with quackers619 that similar treatment to that for bumblefoot is worth trying...
