Black EE: Red comb=roo for sure? (Also, question about crested birds.)

I think maybe their spikes just haven't fully come in yet. The WC black Polish now has a glossy black tail feather that shines green in the light, I just noticed it today. My black EE rooster has those same shiny feathers now too!

Thanks! I have a Canon 40D. Some of my older pictures are with the Canon Digital Rebel, the 350D.

Black EE: Red comb=roo for sure? (Also, question about crested birds.)

I caught the black EE trying to mount one of the older pullets over and over. He was also doing this ridiculous dance. I guess he's...erm...locked and loaded and ready to go... What age should I expect an EE to crow or lay eggs?

Black EE: Red comb=roo for sure? (Also, question about crested birds.)

I'll try to get a full body picture of them tomorrow. It's so cold and nasty out, hard to take pictures...especially with a busy chicken loving toddler in tow! She wants to hold, hug, and kiss the birds while I take pictures of them. Bad news for the black EE. Today I saw a new tail feather...

Black EE: Red comb=roo for sure? (Also, question about crested birds.)

I have my fingers crossed that the black EE just has a big comb, or maybe it will be an amazing quiet rooster. I also thought the first Polish, the white crested black, was a hen until those red wattles popped up. My other polish hens never had wattles like that, and they were almost to the...

Black EE: Red comb=roo for sure? (Also, question about crested birds.)

The white crested black polish doesn't have much of a comb going on, just a tiny bit of red and not forked. The gray one (blue?) has a bit of horns growing, which I think is the forked comb. I thought the wc black was a pullet until those red wattles showed up this week! I had Polish pullets...

Black EE: Red comb=roo for sure? (Also, question about crested birds.)

My chicks hatched on November 24...so that makes them around 8 weeks old? I need to check a calendar. I ordered all pullets, but I think two of my six are roosters. One is huge and brown with a red comb. This black EE is full bodied but not huge...the only roo sign I can find is this...
