Yay! Congratulations! I had one die at lockdown as well, and one glued chick I had to help! 21/22 hatched! All about a week old now! Can't believe they already have their little wing feathers
13 chicks! They all popped out while I got a few hours sleep. 9 left to go! Half are pipping and the other half still need more time. One I think is dead. May have died a day or two ago. But Im so happy!!!
I put in 37 (Knowing that quite a few would be infirtile because the hens had only been in with the rooster for less than a week) so I ended up with 22 as 12 were infertile and 3 were early death.
It's going fantastically!
First chick!!! Buff Orpington baby. Had to create a barrier out of a towel roll to keep this little thing from crawling all over the other eggs!
Also we have another that is almost completely zipped!
I HEAR PEEPING!!!
I'm so excited! I'm just staring at the bator waiting for something to happen! They are peeping and wiggling around in their eggs!!! AHHHH!!!!
Candling is my second favorite part of hatching! It's so exciting. I've got 22/37 confirmed embryos. I should be up to 25 in a few days as a couple are still fresh. This egg was crystal clear and I could see everything! The baby was bouncing around and everything!
Candled mine for the first time last night. They were only 3 days in but my best friend was over so I wanted to do it with her. Only 1 confirmed embryo of 36 eggs. I saw a little veining and a tiny little heartbeat. Most of them have darker yolks now, a few look unfertile but I'm going to wait...
I have 35 in due the 28th and my moms throwing a fit. "What am I going to do with 35 chickens?!?!". I'm trying to butter her up by letting her name them and talk about how cute and fuzzy they are etc.
Pray for me. We've already gotten into 4 arguments about it lol.
Just set 29 eggs in the bator today! Looking to collect and add some more today and tomorrow. My bator holds 41, so I'm trying to fill up! The ones I set today will be due the 28th!
