I'd say my coop is about a foot and a half off the ground.

If you do make a ramp, make it wide. Ducks hate narrow ramps---that much I've found.

No ramp here. The current duck coop is right at ground level, and the other chicken coop (where they live other times) just has a cinder block in front of the door. They jump up fine, even the call. I meant to build a ramp but I ran out of 35* days. Don't know how well you can see the block...

I put a 1 gal water bowl on a 2--3 ft high box... ducks won't jump up, chickens will... if you're using nipple waterers for the chickens that won't apply. What kind of temps do you get? I am guessing not very low since you use nipple waterers. I give my ducks pool water until it gets cold...

When I emptied the water bowls, there was always a good inch of food sludge in the bottom. So wasteful. I moved the water away from the food but they still...

I decided to keep feeding layer to my birds because it's $6 cheaper... at a bag or more a week, that adds up fast. I have yet to see any solid evidence in my or my neighbour's birds that is indicative of damage from the calcium, even in birds that are over 8 years old. I think the management...

The experts don't recommend it, but I feed mine layer. :hide I house my ducks with my chickens. No issues except it's hard to keep the chickens hydrated in winter because the ducks get possessive of the water bowl. I suggest giving another water source up where the ducks can't reach.
