40C is too high, and for longer periods of time could be fatally dangerous.
The temp during incubation and lockdown stays the same, 37.5, some people reduce the temp by a degree or so, ever so slightly, but this is only for large hatches and isnt really necessary.
its really hard to regulate the temp in a homemade incubator like this. Now, a thermostat is supposed to achieve a fixed temp, so in theory, it should cool the heat source if it goes above the desired temperature.
What is the temperature difference? I use a thermostat with my exotic...
yes, the temp you are aiming for is 37.5 C
A thermostat is usually great for keeping a temp more stable, but the thermometer may be incorrect. You can calibrate the thermometer by (I think) putting 50% ice and 50% water in a glass and putting the probe (if waterproof) into it. The temperature...
is the thermometer calibrated? where is the thermometer placed? Against the heater or in the air above it?
The egg you sent a photo of, that is the one with movement yes? It's very odd. It definitely is not ready for lockdown
Are you seeing movement from the embryo? This is very abnormal, by now the egg should be all filled up.
If this egg is alive still, I would have guessed this egg to be about 13 days, not 25.
This is a photo of my duck egg on about day 18, 19. As you can see, the egg is filling up a ton.
By day...
it definitely seems a few days behind, could you see veins/movement upon candling?
I would keep humidity low, until am internal pip, it still has a lot of moisture to lose.
thanks!
I think my notifications had a glitch.
So these are the three remaining eggs? Which are which? I assume the two going into lockdown are the first 4 photos here?
The air cells are a little on the small side maybe. Have you tried spraying the eggs with water a couple times a day?
It's...
I'm sorry :hugs
I know its really hard to see that. My first attempt at hatching didnt go well and the eggtopsy was so sad. I'll never forget her sweet little face.
I hope you have better luck with the remaining eggs. Could you get photos of them being candled?
can you get photos of the remaining eggs being candled so we can see the air cells? High humidity can prevent the eggs from losing enough moisture which can be dangerous.
I definitely reccomend not using water tests in future, it is only supposed to be a very last resort if all other signs...
Hi!
are these photos all egg 1?
So unfortunately it doesnt look good to me, it looks like baby has passed, there are some veins in a couple photos but it looks to me like they're breaking down. Is there any movement? Any bad smell coming from the egg?
Water testing should only be a very last...
