    Disinfecting perches?

It's sweet pdz on the floor. I wouldn't call it soft. But it's also a short distance. She's jumping down maybe 15 inches. Both hens are over in the other setup now. It's much nicer. Theres more light inside. I made a lot of construction progress this week.

    Disinfecting perches?

Foot photos. All one foot. It started out a black circle on the underside of the foot, then a lump formed there. Then after a couple of weeks(?) It swelled up top on both sides of the middle toe. Then the swelling receded and it matured to a pointy lump between 2 toes, seems like it wants to...

    Disinfecting perches?

Uh. Well. I have 2. I am allowed to have 3. #2 beats up on the first one, so they haven't completely gotten beyond the quarantine setup. I have 2 chicken houses at this point. Still hoping they'll be housed together this winter. Actually I'm probably going to eat the bully

    Disinfecting perches?

Oh, yeah! That's definitely the next step. The whole thing was big holes last week. And the coop was half as big

    Disinfecting perches?

We have a rat issue, too, and they're really intense in her area. So she's been out a lot, just going in her yard/coop to sleep and lay eggs. Her food is elsewhere unless she's locked in for the night. I made another coop that I'm trying to make rat proof

    Disinfecting perches?

Ok i didn't think of the ramp as a problem. It doesn't keep her from going in, though. She goes in and out to eat and lay her egg every day. She likes to be outside. It needs more ventilation.

    Disinfecting perches?

To leave her run, she hops up on this wire (edit: i didnt get a photo of the wire), but I don't think it's the problem. There's also the chicken wire she scratched up out of the dirt, which is a problem and could be THE problem. And this little nub of kiwiplant. Which is in her walkpath but...

    Disinfecting perches?

She sleeps in the henhouse after i PUT her in there. First she sleeps outside, almost all the way to the right of the perch. When I bleached her perches a while ago, her foot improved a bit. I dipped her foot in the bleachwater solution, while i was at it.

    Disinfecting perches?

Here is Ellis's hen house. She almost always sleeps on the right, on the perch above the popdoor. She flies straight up onto the perch from the floor, and to get down she walks to the left and hops off the nest box to the floor. I put the hay there on the floor when i started working on her...

    Disinfecting perches?

I have written about it before but never got an answer until now. I havent treated this particular case much, although it's awful looking. She uses the foot normally. This injury has been constant for a while but she had bumblefoot before in the same spot on both feet and my other hen had it...

    Disinfecting perches?

Ok. Thanks. My hen only has sideways 2x4s so I'm starting to mix that up. And there's some old chicken wire on one edge of her run that i covered with pavers until I can get it out of the ground. I'll get to it soon. Other than the chicken wire I don't really know how she's getting injured in...

    Disinfecting perches?

I read a post once where a young teen with chickens sprays down the henhouse daily with a bleach solution. She seemed to think that was normal. Who else does disinfection often, and how? Most hen houses I've seen in person are G R O S S I'm trying to figure out a disinfection routine to reduce...
