So its been almost a week now of treatment and she's been inside most of that time. I'm grasping for improvement measures when I say she's not getting bloody to lay eggs anymore and it doesn't seem to be quite as 'inflamed' anymore.
I kept her in the dark for a few days to try to get her to...
I scrubbed it pretty good. I can definetely see the slight prolapse but it doesn't push back in so I guess I just guess keep it clean, lubed and see if it goes back in on its own when its less inflamed? I don't know where I would even put a stitch if I were to do that.
I plan on doing a little better scrub tonight after she dries herself off with some betadine to get a better look at it. Yesterday I just focused on pulling the gnarly stuff off and keeping it soft.
That sounds like your neighbor's turkey was terribly uncomfortable :(
I am keeping her bum nice and moistureized and I think thats making her a lot more comfortable. The area looks the same it did yesterday but not worse and no scary protrusions that need to be pushed back in. She laid an egg this morning but it didn't make her bloody at all. Yesterday morning I...
Thanks, I hope she recovers. I don't know how long this has been going on but this was the first morning I found a bloody egg. I think she has been laying a couple times a week since the move. Our Golden Hybrid has been laying almost every day despite going through a complete molt (I know its...
Sorry the phone pictures aren't great. I am not sure what I am looking for.
Poor Lilly
I put her in a large box in the dark bathroom for now so I can keep an eye on her.
I gave her a bath. Couldn't find the epsom salts so I put in some redmond clay. I pulled off some of the scabbing while it was soft since it was so dirty. Can I wrap it in any way (like a duck diaper)?
She laid an egg this morning and her bum is all bloody from the ordeal, poor girl. I guess I need to be checking their bums more often. I am getting an epsom salt bath ready for her, hopefully I can get it cleaned up a bit, its pretty gnarly right now. I am not familiar with prolapse vent, I...
I just noticed my KC female has a bunch of poo stuck to her bum and it looks inflamed. I tried to see if any of it would just come off but it was stuck on there and giving her some discomfort. My other two adult ducks and five 7-week-olds all look good. I just moved to a place with a quarter...
