Have you tried local or semi local breeders maybe?? I wonder if the hatcheries just have worse/low genetics vs healthier, farms.
Sighs my brown one is dying. Had been doing great. Was moving earlier now it’s lethargic, barely moves it’s head and just cheeps. Smh. It’s about 5 days old.
I’m giving up on this breed. Their fragility is too much. 😞
I’m feeding a more local ish feed (GA and I’m in Tn) this year. It’s unmedicated too. (Read medicated does no good anyway if they’ve been vaccinated. It actually cancels the shot.)
But we have had more pasty butts (with all the new chicks) than last year. Unsure why.

Almost 5am here and it’s basically dead. Limp, shallow breathing. Pretty sure now that I look at it, it’s my week old one too. Not my new ones. 🤦🏻♀️ Guess that’s failure to thrive syndrome.
My one is a bit on the wobbly side and kind of unstable. (It about drowned it self trying to drink earlier. Which I thought was odd.)
It's scared my hubby earlier bc of the position it was laying in, but it was still alive. lol
I was curious about that myself.
Our first chick loss was this week & it was one of my 2 polish. 5 days old. (Thought maybe the bigger chicks had starved/dehydrated them. As they were being trampled. Moved them asap.)
But we got some more tonight & one just seems really fragile already. And the...
