Been there with the multiple thermometers, lol. I think I had 5 or 6 in my incubator at one time... I currently only have 2... or 3...
Make sure you have more than one hygrometer (humidity reader).
Good luck!!!!
During a power outage caused by equipment failure on the electric company's part, I put my incubator outside during a day that was to get up to 84 degrees. After an 2 hours, I found out it had my mercury thermometer that was in the incubator pegged at 120... I still managed to hatch 5 out of 10...
Don't fret, this close to hatching, they will look like solid masses. Just be patient. Time will tell.. and generally, it's better than what you expect on day 18.
I couldn't tell with my brown (delaware) eggs either, but still managed to hatch quite a few of them. Good luck! Keep us updated. I'd love to see how it goes
my first batch didn't "rock and roll", but they were moving inside when candled at day 18. If you saw movement inside at day 18, there's a good chance you're still fine. Always give it to the end of day 23 before calling it a bust. ;)
They'll lay 3/4 eggs a week, but are more known for their phenomenal taste (and ancient lineage). Definitely a dual purpose breed and I plan to breed them in the long run. For right now though, these are my first pure breeds.
I have 2 others that are a Silver Grey Dorking / Buff Silkie mix...
Well, day 16 and had one internally pip yesterday. Strange. So I've upped the humidity and am very quick when turning the other eggs but have put that one aside in the incubator, not in my egg turner anymore. May have an early chicky. We'll see.
