Please help! Chicken wound from dog :(

Dogs are the #1 cause of injured and slain backyard chickens unfortunatley. I know it has been a tough time for you. Best you can do is keep a close eye on the injured and consider what you need to prevent this from happening again. Observation is key to spotting infections. Best wishes.

Make sure that any anti-biotic you use does NOT have an added painkiller or you could over dose the birds. Cleaning the wounds is important and any red/raw areas need to be covered or the bird has to be separated because the others will peck at the wounds and make it worse. Best Wishes.

You could wait untodark to move them but if injuries are serious act now. The stress is a small price to pay now if you can avoid infection later.

when a bird wants to live as much as dear Rose it is so demonstrative of the willpower and resilience of a well bred chicken. Every chicken lover should be so lucky to have such a great flock and every chicken deserves to have the love and care that tamaraly has for her flock.

Quote: LOL What a great looking flock. I suspect she is going to reintegrate pretty well once she is fully ready for it. You do have a knack for catching these 'kodak' moments. It is always a treat to see those chickens of yours. or honey on a bleeding wound may cause it to bleed even more...

I am so very happy that she is recovering well. You've both had a really tough week but now you're out of the woods with the worst of it behind. No pun intended. Congratulations to both of you, dog attacks kill so many chickens every year but Rose odd not going to be one of them.

well bred birds should in my opinion be given a chance to reproduce. Ontop of being able to replace any losses in the flock, a good roo will die to protect his hens without a second thought. It is worth thinking about at the very least. If you would be interested, i could share some pictures of...
