yeah I been super busy turned out we had a temperature dropped four nights in a row down under 80so I am hoping that the eggs due to hatch are still viable but are just late so I'm leaving them in for another week and I can't find my candler or I would just check them lol
Well my flat of test hatch eggs is down to a dozen so it looks like some fluffy butts need some feather adjusting to increase fertility. Don't think any silky, Cochin or Brahma eggs were fertile =\ but collecting more anyways.
Happy birthday and welcome!!! Hatch whatever you like =] can't wait to hear all about everyone's sets =] I love me some turkeys too, none of the eggs I got last time hatched ={ where's local for you? Royal Palm are my favorite.
Awesome sauce!
I wish my ducks would start up for fall ;) and that my fancier birds would recover from this molt already because it looks like a crime scene out there feathers EVERY WHERE lol. I use my brothers forced air cabinet bator and it runs like a champ ive incubated almost all of my...
Since bantams tend to be a little harder to hatch and more sensitive to changes I would think that they could "drown" easier in a higher humidity.. But I am not an expert just my thoughts about it
I never even bother with it unless I'm doing water fowl(mist daily sometimes twice) I run dry until lockdown and then I try to keep it about %40 depending on the weather. But I don't obsess over it, I hatch in a styro and I just fill one resivoir for chicken eggs and both for ducks/geese when I...
Candle again in a few days before tossing any you could have some late starters ;) even small tempature fluctuations going to low could add a couple days to the hatch day. =} good luck
Ooh Are you hatching brahmas? Cochins? Duccles? Or some other fancy feather footed breed?
Umm the day you set is day zero. Your setting tomorrow? Today is 10/22 ;) if they are bantam crosses expect hatch day 18, so lock down at least one day before that on day 17, I have had bantams hatch early. Also don't toss any non Hatchers till at least day 28 because they are crosses they...
The best part of hatching eggs is that feeling. Be it the first time or the 100th ;) best of luck on those little swimmers. Pekin bantams? Must be ducks?
Edited to add.
If they are duck eggs are you misting them with water daily?
