Good to know. At Runnings you order and pick up in the store and they sell you beekeeping stuff. I'm gonna see if the beekeeping guy can supply me first, though.

Cool! I shall stop in. I didn't know about TSC. Our Runnings carries them for sure, and there's a local guy. I think I want the MN hygenics since I really would like to keep them over winter if possible, plus there's the grooming thing. Plus if I order them I will have the necessary motivation...

Yeah, ya'll are def more consistently cold than we are. We had -30°x 3 nights but that is (and shall remain I hope :fl) unusual for us. Typically our normal (occasional) lows are in the -15° range + or -. I'm thinking I might wrap my hypothetical bees and put them in the greenhouse for winter...

    The Honey Factory

Just from my reading, the cluster of bees will only move up to feed and in extreme cold, can starve to death within inches of abundant honey, which is one of the advantages touted for the alternative deep box hive designs such as Layens. There is more "upness" to be traversed than in a standard...

Pretty sure they're not used to -30 Fahrenheit. How cold did ya'll get, R2?

Hmm... it's "ya'll", Ralphie. More practice!

Yeah, I dunno... I like to skim back and see what was going on from the beginning of the problem and what advice has already been given. It saves me time, not posting things that have already been suggested or tried. Otherwise I'm kind of walking up in the middle of a conversation and saying the...

I don't think there are any wild honeybees up here in the Hills. 😢 We had so much clover here this year, as always; hardly any pollinators of any kind. Bumblebees but not many, and assorted other bee-like buzzers. I guess I'm going to order MN Hygenics (I think is what they're called). A local...

Capture the evil queen & off with 'er head, then put the two hives in one box with a "get acquainted" barrier? (Or however they do the combine-the-hives thing...) 🤷‍♀️

    The Honey Factory

You don't think your little queen might've been surfin' "Queens & Drones" and hooked up with some dark, handsome foreigner named Ivan or Boris or maybe Vladimer...?

I hide my special tools so I'll know where to find them when I need them. DH is not concerned about where he has put a tool until he wants it again, then cover the little ones' ears! :lau He thinks he has a system. He may, but it doesn't work very well for him. 🤦‍♀️

There are an awful lot of plants that have dandelion-like flowers that turn into dandelion-like clocks. We have those plants Bob photographed here, too, and many more--including lots of purple ones--all sorts of thistles. 🙄

He's kidding. And if he says he's not kidding, he's kidding again. Ralphie likes kidding. He's trying to give you a bit of a chuckle to help you feel better. That's too bad--I also am not a bee keeper (yet). I don't think it can be fixed. I like the paler honeys, usually. Have you spoken to the...
