I personally don't free range. It's safer for them that way. I also have a dog with a history of killing chickens. I don't trust her around my birds anymore. My chickens live in a covered run (and coop of course) all the time.

First 2 photos are my other cockerels and the other 2 are my pullets. I also have 1 cockerel with a very flat comb. He's 12 weeks old. He's in the last picture.

OH MY! I just realized I got his age slightly wrong. he's 9 weeks old and not 10 weeks. I accidentally got him mixed up with my other 6 silkies that are a week older.
