Ok, thanks.
I ordered a book. The Backyard Goat by Sue Weaver. I flipped through it a little bit and I don't see where she mentions poisonous plants. This seems to be our biggest problem right now. We have a Choke Cherry bush in our yard, and the neighbor has one in their yard, that hangs over...
So, a friend of mine who has goats is suddenly moving out of state. Her husband got a job offer and they decided to sell their doe in milk and doeling. I've milked this goat before. She is very pretty and they are both very mellow. We went and visited again yesterday. They seem to be well looked...
Adorable! I was wondering the same about rabbits and goats. Since they both eat hay and have similar poo, seems like it might work? We have two female bunnies that would really enjoy the extra room I think.
Thank you. The area where the run would be is very dry, no grass and mostly shaded from a giant pine tree. I think we could keep it dry and clean. The tree also keeps that area dry during the winter, rain hardly touches that area. The rest of the yard has grass.
We have one bush/ tree that...
We have regular 6ft high wood fencing. I really think our little 30 lb beagle would leave them alone and they would be able to come out to the full yard when we are home. But maybe not...
Oh, sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. The 12X14 is the barn. Where they sleep. I was asking how big the attached run should be. And if that kind of set up would work. So they would have 24/ 7 access to the barn and run. And then sometimes be let into the yard.
I almost wish I would have built the chicken coop in a different area of our yard, because they have so much room! It would have been a great fenced area for the goats :/ Sigh. Trying to make this work.
So, I've been thinking about my dog/ goat dilemma. If you remember we have neighbors, only 1/3 acre and would like two dairy goats. I'm now wondering if attaching a run right to the side of the goat pen would work as an indoor/ outdoor area for the goats, with time in the rest of the yard only...
I have been trying to do that, but I'm not very good with dog training. He came to us partially trained (thank god) and will listen to me when there is no stress or distractions. But when there is he can't seem to focus... I do notice that when he chases the chickens (one routinely hops the...
Thanks Cassie. With us not having very much land, the goats and dog were going to share a yard, but be locked in their barn sometimes.. Maybe that won't work though... :(
I really have mixed feelings about our dog. He's a great family pet, but he makes me nervous around all of our other pets...
Ok, we don't have any of those large predators except our own 30 lb pet beagle... So far he gets along with the tortoise, but wants to chase the chickens... But hasn't actually bit one. Is there any way to predict how he would do with nigerian dwarves?
