Horrible picture of my rooster as he just wants attention. But I feel he has good body shape. He tail is minimal right now as he was picked on with his last flock. I just got him in the summer.
I also have this pullet I got for free from Peavey Mart during chick days. They had 3 chicks left after everyone picked up and called me to pick them up. They didn’t know what they were. What do you think? … I’d love to hear Buff Orpington. She just started laying this week. Light brown...
I’m obviously new … the lavender splits look more colourful or is that just one bird to another can have more green sheen?
How do you tell the difference between a split and a black?
I have 3 that have spots like this.

I have 2 coops. A kid coop with lots of chickens that my kids chose and like to socialize with. And my Orpington coop with a few green...

My rooster also doesn’t look to have great feathers but he was 1 of 3...
One more question. A black split doesn’t look different right? Meaning I would know but my kids want to enter in the fair would the judge be able to tell?
Yes planning ahead that’s what the winter season is for!
I’ve been reading everything I can but can’t seem to understand fully so if someone can ‘dumb’ it down for me a smidge.
I have a flock of Orpington’s.

4 Lavender Hens (poor feathers after I bought them the seller wrote me saying she didn’t know why they looked fluffy)
