I have used a WHT for less than $10 and a Digital one and will never use a WHT again.... I don't trust them anymore. I lost 18 chicks when my hatcher reached 113* after they had all hatched. WHT are harder to regulate. The digital was easy to set and forget.

I didn't see your thermostat? I had to put mine RIGHT over the light and really close to it to get my temps right. I don't think WHT (I assume that is what you are using) don't read ambient air temps well.

I only have last springs pullets laying, but soon fall hatch is going to kick in. I have a ton of chicks and still young ones in the shop. I use DE in my feed just in case too.

When I got my first 5 hens, he told me I need 100 layers... I thought he was crazy! I am pushing 200 chickens now and I am still only getting 30 eggs a day. But with the eggs in the bator that will all change. I candled today and tossed 17 eggs and could have tossed more but they were Marans...

I understand that! I had just put my eggs in when we fixed it. It only took one or two cycles to get it right. It has been perfect every since. Good Luck on your hatch! I just got 8 new babies today and put 17 more in lockdown too. Got to convert that hatcher over to flexwatt and the...

I don't think it really give you directions. 37.5 is 99.5 F. So if you are reading 100 that is 37.8 C so you are off 1.9 C. It works just like adjusting your temp. Go to F4 and see what it is set to. Whatever that is set to Lower it by 1.9 and hit the power button to save it. Your temp...

How many eggs are you going to be turning? I have one with just the rotisserie motor and it works fine for just a few doz. I think my original one (the one in the blog) hold 7 1/2 and that is no problem. My new bator will hold 540 eggs and that is about 75 lbs and it was not enough for that...

    Homemade Incubators

Similar to my original bator on my page in my siggy. I have detailed pics of this one too. We used a rotisserie motor BUT that would not turn with weight. A friend brought me a powerful motor, but it was too fast so we took the gear down part of the rotisserie off and soldered it to the...

Just noticed yours says 39 something.... you know you can calibrate it? We just figured that one out today. Had ours set at 41.8 the first night to get to temp and the F4 was set to something like 4.1 so I set it to 0 and that fixed that. We are running it up to 37.8 because of the .3 temps...

Sorry I can't find my camera, may have left it at the farm. This is the only pic of the bator I have right now. It is about 44 inches by 34 inches and maybe 5ft tall with the casters on it. It hold 540 eggs, 180 per tray. This is before the walls. I added the flexwatt at about the level of...

So far pretty good. My new bator is big so we added 1 75 watt light and it is doing well with 90 inches of flexwatt. I have that same digital thermostat in the above post and I am very pleased so far. I will put a pic up later after the babies go to bed.

I use 2 75 watt lights in the incubator. I just converted my hatcher to Flexwatt and 1 75 watt light to control the WHT. Just got my digital ambient thermostat so that will be next conversion. I want to use only flexwatt but we will see

Quote: He is the guy I kinda copied! I had no Idea when I originaly designed it I had no idea it would work so well, it was cheap to build not all that hard and fun. I won the bator contest with it back when I first made it. How well does yours work?? Congrats! I used what I had and it did...

Here is mine.... and the hatcher. Both are working great but I will be making a new one soon with some changes. It is kinda hard to get to the eggs on the bottom shelf and adding water is a pain but other than that it works great...
