Little chocolate sizzles!!!

So, sadly I lost my one little lavender chick today... I had put them in the outdoor brooder when it was warm and then we had a cold front come in so I put a heat lamp in there and was still worried so I brought the little guy in for the night... this morning he was peeping loudly and running...

Of the 8 that hatched, 3 are silkie feathered. Sadly the lav isn't, but I'm still keeping him :-) hopefully I'll get an idea of the sexes soon so I can get an idea of who's staying and who's going

Look what color the late hatcher turned out to be! Glad he survived! I knew he was special!

Went to start my eggtopsy and could hear peeps coming from one of the eggs. This guy pipped internally but hadn't broken the shell yet. Oh the other 8 eggs, 2 were early deaths (shortly after day 7) 4, maybe 5 were late deaths sometime after day 14, almost fully developed, 1 last one had made it...

Thespoiledchicken, these are the 7 I had hatch. I've got 9 still in the bator that aren't showing any signs of life so I'm shutting it down. I figured I'd get allot 8 to hatch so I'm pretty happy :-)

Today is day 18, final candle and lockdown! All the air sacs looked good and I saw flutters of movement in most of the eggs, so I put all 16 eggs in lockdown! They're scheduled to hatch on my birthday, so let's hope I have a wonderful birthday surprise!

Day 14 candle results: All but 2 of my eggs were too dark to see anything (all of my eggs are green colors, some pretty dark), except the size of the air sac, which is a little bigger than normal for this point on most of them, so I added some water. I'd still love to get some splash silkied ameracauna hatching eggs eventually, if anyone will have some of those for sale :-)

So, I finally got some eggs thanks to thespoiledcgicken! She sent me 17 eggs which I set nearly 2 weeks ago on a Saturday. I candled on day 7 (this last Saturday) and only 1 egg was clear and 16 developing! This next coming Saturday is day 14 and candle number 2! I can't wait!

I wish I could come get some of those splash chicks... I'll be looking for splash hatching eggs soon!

I've got some really nice frizzles with great type and egg color... I just might have to start a new pen with frizzle hens under a silkie roo lol

How do you guys think frizzled silkie ameraucaunas would look? Lol
