You're right, none of the other saxony in my batch have the black tail feathers either. I guess he's just not a great specimen. Maybe he will look more appropriate when he feathers in.

My next thought is should I ask for a replacement? I specifically ordered 4 silver appleyards, not the white appleyards which cost less, and then 18 assorted. I only recieved 3 with mohawks and then this little guy with black tail feathers (close but still probably not going to work for...
Would the completely yellow ones develop the normal markings of the silver appleyards or would it result in a totally white bird? I know they are known to throw white appleyards occassionally but that it is undesirable for breeding true to their standards.
I'm supposed to have 4 silver appleyards but one of them doesnt have much of a mohawk. Is he still an appleyard? They're from Holderreads, so I hope they're all the right breed.
