    @aart The giant cube melts slower. That's why I go through the trouble of making them. I can add 1 cube that lasts all day or longer instead of having to add little cubes repeatedly.

    I use the bottle just to form a giant ice cube. It usually takes a good run under hot water to get the cube out too. I only use 2 maybe 3 waterers so it's not too much extra work. On the hottest days last year the ice would last all day.

    I freeze 2 liters or 24 oz bottles and put the giant ice cube in the waterer. It melts slower then little cubes while refilling and keeping the water cool.
