We ate all the frozen banana bread, so today i made two more loaves. One for the freezer, and one for eating sooner. And thinking of Sour, added extra walnuts!!!

So the Kerry Gold butter is really worth the $$$? Haven't tried it yet. Can't imagine using it in cooking though.
Must get the frozen banana bread (with walnuts!) out of the freezer!

Some folks use at least some applesauce as a sugar substitute, although it also has some sugar added usually. At least mine does.
I too have thrown out frozen bananas...
Now they go right into banana bread, which does freeze well. In fact, that loaf in the freezer is calling to me right now!

My banana bread recipe comes from the original 'The Settlement Cookbook', first printed in 1901. My disintegrating copy is from 1965, and I just got a copy redone in 1997. A must in any kitchen! I do add the cinnamon and nutmeg, not in the original recipe. Probably spices too expensive back...
Somehow I missed this thread from long ago until today. Banana bread MUST have nuts, usually walnuts, AND cinnamon, AND nutmeg, and be eaten with or without butter, and not toasted.
So there!
It's like making chocolate chip cookies without walnuts (my DS does this outrage!). He also leaves out...
