    Rabbit Nesting!

@Farmboy101 , any kits yet? I saw my NZ doe pulling fur this morning and shortly afterward, she kindled. Took a quick peek and it looks like 8 healthy kits. Still waiting on doe #2...

    Rabbit Nesting!

I have two does that should kindle tomorrow (probably at night) - one just made a nice little hollow in the hay I put in her nest box and the other dug around and seems to have thrown some hay out. Hopefully, doe #2 settles down and doesn't kindle in an empty nest box.

    Rabbit Nesting!

Yes, I wouldn't worry about it. You could check after she gets out to make sure she hasn't peed in there...sometimes they just do.

    Rabbit Nesting!

It really depends on the doe - I've had some pull the day before, sometimes right before, some immediately after. They can look like they're not going to, then POOF! it'll look like a rabbit exploded in their cage. Occasionally, a doe won't pull fur until a while after she kindles; this scenario...

    Rabbit Nesting!

I bet you could - like a miniature exercise pen? Maybe use wire with any sharp edges covered? @Bunnylady, thoughts?

    Rabbit Nesting!

Two nests are better than none, IMO. If she kindles in the one outside the nest box, you could try moving everything into the nest box afterward.

    Rabbit Nesting!

Sheesh, I repeated a lot of what @Bunnylady said before I saw her post. I guess "great minds think alike"!

    Rabbit Nesting!

I've only had one doe so far that did that, and I just collected the nesting material from the wire (if there is any), put it in the nest box, and snuggled the kits into the nest box, too. Put any pulled fur on top of the kits. The doe seemed fine with the change of location and the kits were...

    Rabbit Nesting!

Like @Bunnylady said, you can never predict how a first-time kindling is going to go - some does just don't want to use a nest box (to my chagrin), some don't pull fur...it can be a bit crazy-making. Your girl sounds like she isn't a nest box fan, so she may not kindle in one this time; that...
