I always left mine on too, but of course adjusted the temp lower slowly, and by the time they were adjusted to room temp they still wanted that red light at night lol spoiled!!

My chicks wouldn't shut up if I turned the heat lamp off, but then again, they weren't ever quiet for very long. babies of any species are...well, big babies! lol
