I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

Thank you, will look for other roosters who are being victimized. Earl does have company as of the last half hour. I went to the coop and the two oldest hens were sort of hiding. The two young roosters have been terrorizing them and ignoring their status. . .taking turns. I brought Mama into the...

I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

I am having a problem that may be related to feather picking. My poor rooster is a true gentleman, and the girls act like they are grooming him, but they peck his giant red comb until it oozes blood. I brought him in to the basement where there is a giant dog crate where he has lived before. In...

I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

Sorry to hear about Joycie. I have a couple of SLW,a d they were late to start their molts, and are taking a long time. One is a real character, and has wormed her way into our hearts. So when she decided to help herself to some of the food in the bucket I fill the bowls from, I did not...

I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

I haven't read the whole thread in a while, but wonder if since those two are at the bottome of the pecking order, perhaps they could just have a little cottage for two and live happily ever after in a land for just them. Perhaps they would have no need to pick feathers if everyone was not...

I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

You know, Azygous, I am running out of compassion for some of my girls too. This is supposed to be fun and relaxing, and feather picking and egg eating are behaviors which interfere with those good feelings. I have a hen who is some kind of sex link who was sold to me as a Buff Orp who is an egg...

I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

Perhaps they could go of a ride to some place and come back in neat packaging. Then you would have room for innocent chicks...I can't get on board with this, as I haven't identified the perps yet. But it is in my mind. Everyone is acting poorly, that may be because of spring and too much snow...

I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

I wish I had separate coop to move the victims to, they could grow their feathers in together. The pickers could eventually just prey on each other and not train the next generation. But I know DH would not want to take on another coop building project.

Guess that is next, don't know who is the culprit, they all act cute, innocent and love able while I'm watching.

I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

I have been following this thread for quite a while, hopefully. Last year my roo and one of my original hens, the one who has raised several chicks for me were plucked bare. They molted, and feathers looked great. Suddenly both of my less than year old BOs are naked in the back. And the roo...
