I bought mine at Wally World [WalMart], I don't think it matters where you get it, just use it.

Luck...but if you do this, you won't need it. Just remember, if the leg feels warm get the bird onto an antibiotic right away. Staph is a really nasty infection and if it gets to the bones, it's almost impossible to get rid of.

WalMart is where I found mine. Now a side note here...for chickens, the treatment times are different. Instead of the 4-6 days in between for ducks and geese, you need to apply the treatment on checken and other scaled fowl, every 3-4 days, the 3rd being the best for a bad infection...

They can get Bumbles from scratches, puntures, rubs, etc.. In a lot of cases, you never can figure out why. Staph is the usual cause of the infections and is something found everywhere in the enviroment and also on their skin, as well as our own. Why do some of the scratches we get just go...

The first time I found the bumbles, I put the bird into the tub to clean and soak. I gave her a good while in there as she was enjoying herself and i was in the middle of things here. RussianChickens, I totally agree with you about the saline solution and have a saline nasal spray in my med kit for just that reason. To your recipe for the saline solution, if you add 1/8 tsp of baking soda, you've buffered it and can then use it in the eyes without causing pain.

I've also read that peroxide can cause pre-cancerous changes in skin cells. Then I wonder how we've made it this far with all of these 'bad' things in our lives. I get an infection in a cut, the first thing I reach for is peroxide. To my mind, it doesn't matter if I lose a few healthy skin...

Bumblefoot, New Ideas on Treatment with pictures

On July 1st, I found one of my Pekin ducks with what I would consider a bad case of Bumblefoot. Both feet were involved and I'm ashamed to say, the only way I found it was she was limping. One foot had 7 and the other had 3. I was able to grab her and bring her into the house and put her into...
