The Drake sound is a raspy sound. The sharp clear quacking sound is a hen. The hens beak is orange around the edges while the Drake's beak is an olive greenish color.

Last night I had 7 healthy looking Mallard ducklings and 2 eggs left to go. I am afraid that they were laid some time after the others started incubating and they will be too late. I had one that had pipped but didn't make it out of the egg.

She could, they have been laying in the hens nest box normally we get 2 duck eggs. One day we got three. The last few days we have only gotten 1 duck egg. I attributed that to the change in the weather. On the coldest day last week we didn't get any duck eggs.
