MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

Pics

This is the closest they've ever let me get to them. There are peas in the water bucket. :D

The lighter one is Peek, the darker is Poke.

Waiting on some black mallard eggs here and hsould begin to see some more mateing in about a month so fingers crossed.

Im also trying to get blue mallards from breeding my black one with some grey mallards that have a more lighter tone to them.

Big plans guys!!1

They let me get right up next to them today. Still won't take food out of my hand, but they'll look at it really hard and think about it!!

Maybe tomorrow. Bath & Pea Time are pretty popular now.

No pictures today, because I was holding peas in my hand, trying to get Peek and Poke to eat from my hand. BOTH of them snagged a couple of peas out of my hand today! They don't like to do it, though. They much prefer that I toss the peas into the water pan.

Also, I've noticed Poke mounting Peek on a fairly regular basis when the water pan comes out for bath time. I'm assuming this is normal if you don't have a drake? One female will decide to be dominant? They're almost a year old, if Poke was male there would be green feathers already, right?

Also YAY I FINALLY GOT THEM TO EAT OUT OF MY HAND.

I win.

green feathers might not show but listen to the voices or the tail sex feathers to tell but usually by a year they should have green.

No drake feathers, either. I'm not sure of the voices, because Peek is really loud. I'll have to see if I can tell if both of them are quacking.

You will also see the curly Drake feathers on their tails.
