Okay! I candled for lockdown and I’m happy to report most are doing great. Getting the humidity up and going.

We did unfortunately lose #4, Crumble. We did an eggtopsy and I couldn’t decide if she had a yolk sac infection, or if it was just beginning to decompose. Very cute little tiny. Probably lost her a day ago. I’m bummed. We buried her under our favorite plum tree.


I feel like I’ve lost a lot this go around so I’m going to calibrate my Govee and test my incubator after these guys pop out and see if it is in fact running a little on the low side. I know things just happen sometimes too but I want to make sure I’m not making things any harder.

It’s also possible some of my eggs were a little “old” or got mixed in with the older eggs on my counter.

Either way, fingers crossed for the remaining 15 to crack on out of these shells Saturday!

Since this is related to baking I’ll post my little rant here: it is HARD to determine when sourdough bulk fermentation is underdone, perfectly fermented, or overdone!!

But anyway, let’s go Baguette!! you’re almost there!
