I have to respectfully disagree.
The USDA will kill a large amount of backyard flocks to save a commercial flock if it comes to that.
Another thread here on BYC showed the regard that they have for us "hobbyists."
Anyone here who thinks the USDA, or any other state/federal agency is looking out for them, needs to look at this from another angle.
Everything that is being done is totally based on the commercial losses of a few big meat/egg suppliers and food prices. USDA school lunch programs cannot deal...
Eggs in the grocery store were $3.50 for the commercial white, medium size.
The free range, organic eggs in the grocery were $2.76.
Hmmm, which would I buy?
