I feed oatmeal but also mash sometimes they love it. Mine stay in the coop if its 10 degrees or under anyways.

My chickens survived the negative 40 degree last winter. I did have straw but wont be doing that again. Just make sure the chickens have food water, i add corn to their food in the winter. I dont do anything else.
