This is what I woke up to. My malposition baby pushed out all by itself ♡♡♡♡! Now just waiting on 1 more to hatch. I'm in love.

    Homemade Icubator

That's what I've been reading. So my plan of action so far has just been to watch. I've peeled two small pieces of shell out of the way to make sure my little chick is getting adequate air supply. He's got a wet paper towel wrapped around him/her. And I'm keeping the membrane around the pip wet...

I have one that is malpositioned. He has piped on the wrong end...... the egg is very oblong so maybe it's not the wrong side. Anyways, the shell is cracked but I see no break in the membrane?

Okay....so the suspense is killing me. We're at day 20 and the eggs are definitely rocking around. But no outer pips!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh! It's killing me. I want to candle them so bad to see if there's an internal pip. But I know it's would only be for my sanity and completely unsafe for my fluffy...

That's really awesome! I love diy designs...on just about everything! I really love the quilt. Everything else was cool too....but the quilt really won me over. I saw your incubator on another thread I was reading. I was wondering about your design. Thank you for sharing.i like the basket. It...

Thank you for your advice! I found a way to easily turn the eggs 45 degrees. The design I used for my incubators is off of a YouTube video. I used two aluminum, disposable baking pans. They were cut, folded and duct taped to fit in the bottom of the coolers. The top of the pans are lined with...

Thank you so much for clearing that up. Luckily it's only happened with my first batch of RIR's. I can save the other babies from the trauma! I hope the 4 that are developing will be okay. The air cell is at the blunt end on 3 of them. The fourth one is kind of to the side but only slightly.

Yes, makes sense. Just one question. When they hatch you leave them In the carton as well? I was planning on taking them out and putting them on their side. I feel stupid asking this but, I thought turning them meant completely turning them pointed end up, like 180 degree turn? Am I doing that...

    Homemade Icubator

When I get them I let them sit for 12 hrs to come to room temp. And I keep them in an egg carton. I turn them by hand at least three times a day. I just learned about the detached air cell issue. So I have not candled my previous eggs. I just got another batch today. 6 Silkies and 6 RIR'S, I...

I also have 22 Copper Maran eggs in my second bator. Today is day 1. All of my eggs were shipped. So I let them sit for 12 hours before going in the bators. I keep reading stories about detached air cells from shipped eggs. I hope these will be okay. I think next time I will let them sit for 24hrs.

    Homemade Icubator

Yep,First hatch ever! I got to see the 4 babies moving Sunday night. I candled them a few times before, but I was showing my mother and when she talked they started to move! She's awesome like that. While I was pregnant with all four of my children, all she'd have to do is touch me and they'd...

    Homemade Icubator

Today is day 13. I have 10 Heritage Rhode Island Red eggs in my homemade bator. I'm pretty sure I have 4 moving fluffy butt babies and 1 possible out, 3 are completely clear, I believe that means they were not fertile to begin with, and 2 look like day 6 quitters. I'm getting really excited lock...

    Homemade Icubator

I made two homemade incubators out of two styrofoam coolers. I ran the first one for 4 days the temp is steady between 101*F to 103*F and the humidity stays steady at 40% to 50%. I turn them between 3 to 5 times a day. I have the eggs sitting in cut cartons for now.I'm at day 12 and I'm going to...
