The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

That's what I'm most concerned with. I know he was brooded with ducks and thought that would be better... apparently not😒 and I don't want my girls hurt. I'm concerned for their welfare and have way too much invested in them already. I loved the idea of him joining us and he's a cool bird just...

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

(How my husband feels at this moment ) (How i feel) He spent last night having his crate open. Everyone seems to be their bright feathery heinous. Mr Bleu let all the ladies through, pecked at the ground outside for a bit and went straight after the ducks. I'm wondering if this will go away...

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

Thanks for the info and the direction. I wasn't quite sure where to post as I'm having an issue kinda with both ducks and chickens... Today he was relentless. He may leave them alone momentarily... but it was like he was on them (literally) one after another and chasing them around. Trying to...

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

Yes... to both. They're all female, only one is laying. I didn't know if he was trying to mate with them... or if it was a dominance thing... or a protective thing? , but its generally the smaller breed he goes after.. but he's gone after the pekins too. As I type... I let him out and he...

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

They seem to be fine throughout the day. I've been letting him out in the afternoon to get some free range time. I go out there about dusk to make sure everyone goes up and do a count. The hens go in their house, the ducks tend to go in a little later, but go into their pen. The last day or so...

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

My daughter is 12 and my son is 2 (he obviously only goes out with a parent). We all spend quite a bit of time out there. I usually go out there a couple of times a day. When we first got him I was picking him up and he did great. Then and then he started pecking me. So I try not to reach in for...

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

Yes! That's what I'm afraid of! He seemed to challenge me a bit but seemed to back of. Where he was they didn't spend much time with him... and here I'm out there a couple of times a day. I want him to have our home as a home, but I don't need him to be a headache. I see his promise and...

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

That's what I was thinking. I just can't watch them all day long. I don't think its a huge problem. I just don't want to create a bigger one. He seems to have quite the confidence to be a rehomed roo in a yard of females....

The saga of introducing my adopted roo continues....

I apologize for the length and I'm not sure of I should post this under ducks or not... but since my issue is with the rooster I figured I'd post here. I've never had a rooster or had to integrate one. Mr Bleu...he's about 4-5 months old, we adopted him from a friend that couldn't keep him...
