She started yelling at me when I went outside, so I brought her in and made up some more goop. She got her fill much quicker and went back outside to bask in the sun some more. Today is a good day: she's happy and I'm proud.
I don't usually get so happy that I want to cry, but today is one of...
Good news! I finally got Beaky to give goopy-wet-food a real try. After a few exploratory tries, and having no other option, she decided she liked it. Needless to say, she had a bath afterwards, but she was overdue anyway.
For the first time in a long time she has a full-feeling crop and acts...
Somehow, everytime I get a big wall of text just about ready to post, I hit the back button on my phone, which is also the one that hides the keyboard so I can proof-read. Ugh!
Thanks for the info and the article link. I am so scared to try both tube feeding and break trimming. 😳
So far...
Beaky has gotten worse, but she looks like she's hanging in there, even if she is a bit of a mess. I allow her to help herself to the fullest feed container, she has a dog bowl of food she can (essentially) play in, and special Beaky-cups in both the crate and the run. I tried wet food and she...
Does anyone get boy vibes off Lefty and Little Gray, or is it too early to tell? They'll be 4 weeks in a couple of days...
Lefty being goofy at the camera.
The weeks as of yesterday!
Beakie decided to help themself to the feed container. It's a happy birbie. :D
I'm perfectly okay with this since the poor thing has trouble eating.
The gang's learning to perch. :love
They are now spending the day outside in the big crate and in the evenings, I bring them inside to their smaller crate to sleep. I wake up early every morning to one of them screaming the song of their people, then I go back to sleep.
I've been reading that it only gets worse. So far, they're hanging in there, even if they spill a bit more food. I've been keeping a special eye on 'em to make sure they're eating good. I tried feeding separately, but it was too busy being angry at being alone to eat. I'll keep watching and if I...
Today was their first visit to the great outdoors. They were nervous for about 30 seconds before attacking all the tasty moving specks. They seemed like they were comfy and happy to be out there.
Today is our 1 week mark together.
I'm beginning to see distinguishable differences so I can kind of tell them apart.
These aren't names, just the mental descriptor to tell them apart. I'm open to any gender-neutral name ideas!
("Little gray" or "little buddy") has feathers coming in that are more gray than white so had an...
Hi, I'm new around here and to chicks. I just purchased my first 5 splash Ameraucana chicks on Saturday (2 days ago) from a local farm/seller. Because they sell at a local venue, I didn't see the potential parentage so I'm not 100% sure on the quality or breed purity. At the very affordable...
