She is 13-14 weeks. My white silkie has the same funky tail feathers. I’m convinced the white is a rooster. He is twice the size of the black one. He even weighs more than the Salmon Faverolles that’s a week younger.
They are really hard to photograph together lol.
Oh bummer! It doesn’t hurt him/her to have yellowy feathers though right? He/she loves to dust bathe in the sun. I wish I had known before I picked out a white one lol
:ya I am hoping it is! Our neighbors won’t love it but they are at least allowed lol someone on the street behind us has one we can hear every now and then.
He’s so cute! So it doesn’t necessarily mean mine will be a boy? I know it’s hard to tell with silkies until they crow or lay but I have a feeling the white one is going to be a roo.
Please excuse the lack of feathers my poor baby was picked in the brooder :’( thankfully they are finally growing back! But why do they have different combs?
And should I trim the black ones beak?
He’s so cute! I love his color!
The single comb silkie I have looks like he’s developing wattles and the walnut looking comb silkie isn’t. They are both 9 weeks old. I’ll try to get pics today. The mama silkie was so fluffy I couldn’t see her comb when I bought these two.
What does the comb of a silkie cockerel look like?
Edited to add: one of my silkies seems to have a single comb. The other looks more like it will be a walnut comb. Maybe?
My silkies :love the white one is growing back some feathers on her chest where she was picked by another chick so she’s not very pretty right now lol. How long does it usually take? And I’m pretty sure they are molting. I’m finding large feathers everywhere!
