Yes you remember correctly the chicks legs all started as yellow, but with a bit of pink tinge to them. However they quickly changed to the pink/slate combo you see here. The body skin is white on all of them. I really hadn't paid much attention to that trait, do you think it's undesireable? My...

ok then that cleared up! here are a couple of pics, not very good ones but I'll aim for something better later this week. These guys are always with their head down eating or running to where they think there is food. As you can see they are the picture of health, fully feathered and active. I...

If you would share, I will greatly appreciate it! I think it would be interesting to compare carcass pics as well. Such as a 6lb CX, 6lb FR and some 6lb breeding projects. Say 6lb at butcher, what is carcass weight and how much of that is fat?

I recorded some new weights on page 2. They are still maintaining almost exactly half the weight of Brunty's CX's, but have far surpassed my laying breeds - really exactly where I want to be right now. I'm still feeding just standard chick starter, with intentions to move to whole grains soon...

recorded 3 week weights on chart, still holding at about half of Brunty's CX weights. I hope it stays right there . . . of course this is not my end product, but still I'm right where I want to be. Everyone is quite healthy and running around, not as active as same day hatch layers, but still...

I am very pleased! I'm really only in year two, of a probable 5 year project as breeding true and consistantly is a main goal. But another goal is to NOT push growth with premium comercial starters. I want a bird that will get to the weight I want, in the time frame I want; free foraging...

Quote: Thank you! Just give me what you can as you can, I was really hoping someone with Freedom rangers would chime in, I think that data will be very usefull. So thanks again in advance! I am really interested in your whole grain diet and what decisions you made and how you arrived at them...

Quote: Yes! It's crazy how much bigger Jeffs CX are than mine already! At one week mine were double the size of the laying breeds that hatched with them and at two weeks almost triple. I am really pleased with that kind of growth . . . and totally blown away by Jeffs! We'll see how this...

I know this all probably sounds quite silly and sophmoric to those with much avian experience and knowledge; but it's just my own little personal project that I am deriving quite a lot of satisfaction from . . . and that's the main reason I am raising chickens. I am doing my 2 week weigh in on...

My goal is 6 lbs live weight at 15 weeks. I have two full grown cornish cross hens; I wanted to grab some of the meat genes but add in a little more sustainability.

my goal is to develop (as a hobby, for my own personal consumption) a breed that is unique to my farm. 1. that is capable of reaching breeding age 2. that breeds true 3. that reaches butcher size around 15 weeks 4. that is a hardy and capable forager 5. that meet butcher goals fed only free...

this is what I am looking for; Breed - egg weight - hatch weight (dry)- 1 week weight - 2 week weight - 3 week weight - etc. until butcher I understand if you don't have everything, but anything will help. I'm just looking for something to measure my birds against. I especially would like...

I am working on developing "my own" meat bird and keeping weekly records of weight and feed consumption. I am HOPING that some of you would not mind keeping growth records of your meat birds (especially cornishx), so that I had something to compare to. . . . anyone up for it?
