My coop is almost 7 years old and with the regular hand held staplers gun and washers I've had no issues with anything getting in. if I had access to this type of stapler I'd use it.

I used big washers and screws every foot/foot an a half and used a staple gun in-between. I hated those stupid hammer in things too.
